The next Altair EcoVillage Discussion Group is a tour of Mt. Cuba Botanical Center in Hockessin, Delaware, about an hour drive from our Kimberton site.
Mt Cuba specializes in native plants, and will show us forest paths, meadows edge plantings, and a beautiful natural pond. Altair would like to use some of the Mt. Cuba ideas as we plan to restore the 2-3 acres of woods on our site, plant buffers, and work with our wetlands and meadows. The gardens are one of the natural wonders on the East Coast, and definitely worthy of our attention!
We plan to meet in Kimberton around 8:45 am, Sunday, August 27th, and carpool to Mt Cuba. The tour will be from 10-12, and then we will gather for lunch. Each attendee will contribute $12 to pay for the expert Mt Cuba docents leading the groups of 10-12. We need to know how many people are coming, so would you please get back to us by August 12th? We will pre-pay and you can reimburse us.
