Altair EcoVillage began in 1999 with a small group of elders called STAR (Seniors for Talents and Resources). They had heard about Cohousing as a model for living together and had explored a site or two, speaking with professionals to start the process.
Today, through many meetings, conferences, site plans, developers, and folks who have come and gone, we have settled on what we think is an ideal site in a walkable community. We are close to getting a special Zoning Ordinance on the site. We have adopted the name “EcoVillage” to reflect our desire to work on healing the planet and building community, with Cohousing as the model for the housing we seek to build. Come join us!

where bigger is not necessarily better, where slower can be faster, and where less can be more.”
