Come work with us and with Marilyn Michalski of the Bluebird Society of Pennsylvania at our EcoVillage site!
Marilyn is an expert on “cavity-nesting” birds. She says: “We would want to complete 1-2 large nesting boxes (for kestrels and screech owls) and 1-2 small boxes for bluebirds, tree swallows, and chickadees. We will need to use a power tool or two. Materials needed: good lumber - white pine - 6" wide x 8-10 feet long. Also, we will need 8" wide lumber (white pine) - two lengths of 8 feet each. Also plenty of 1 1/4" wood screws (like deck screws/non-rusting) and 1 3/4" wood screws. Ideal for installing them would be some re-bar, 1 1/2” pvc tubing, and strapping.”
